Sofinia: (So – Fin –nee – Ah)
Region: A rich, lush land with plentiful soil, and a gentle climate. The winters are light, but the spring and autumn seasons last for nearly 2/3 of the year. The land is rich with wild strawberries, cherry trees, and vineyards. Wild ducks and geese fly here from the all over the region to the many ponds and lakes. The northern coast line is strewn with boulders and rocks that have wreaked countless ships. In the spring bring eastern winds that blow a thin layer of white sand/dust from the desert across the sea. To the north is a large expanse of wilderness. Small clutches of monsters and other wild beasts. Ruins and old battlefields are constantly sought out by adventures and explorers. Along the waterways and coastlines are vast old cities that have been built
Description: A heavy people by popular description, although this is exaggerated. Those of the middle classes tend to have more weight, although most people do not have this trait. In reality, they tend to be average height and weight. One thing that people do comment on is their particularly high bridged noses. Their language is very crisp and has a flowing musical quality to it.

Clothing Styles: They vary greatly between the high and low born. The lower classes wear practical, simple clothes with iconic wide brim hats. The wealthy take audaciousness to renowned levels with highly sexualized dress combined with a high propensity for makeup. This makes their fashion simultaneously highly popular and shunned.
Notable Trade Products: Make-up, wine, cherries, strawberries, noodles, paint, furniture, textiles, and goose.
Politics: Unlike its cultural counterpart (Ithaca), Sofina has not lost its central power. The Grand Council is a body of 50 or so people drawn from the nation’s elite. Particular seats hold specific powers and duties; however each one (supposedly) has an equal vote. The chief Councilor of Coin, The Councilor of Sails (Ships and Trade Routes), Councilor of War, and so on are among only a few titles. Specific cities have seats on the council as well as key industries. The First Councilor is the head of this body and is defacto head of state. A major source of political tension comes from how this First Councilor is elected/elevated. The binding idea is that this councilor should be raised for meritocratic decisions and reasons, however this rarely happens. Banking has only recently become a practice and the effects are starting to be felt. Merchants, mages, and scholars have doubled in the last 40 years, and are likely to double again in the next few decades. This is/could cause trouble for the council as their populations will demand more and more autonomy.
The Grand Council – The body elect of the elite men and women that control the country. The First Councilor was originally charged with being the 1st among equals, this has not lasted. Each councilor has a specific role and charge. Even the lowest member of the Grand Council has considerable influence and power. As a matter of tradition, most have minor councils that serve the day to day needs of their position. Best examples include those that come from specific cities. The Grand Councilor of Tristan is 1st among the minor council of Tristan. While there are only 50 or so Grand Councilors, there are hundreds of Minor Councilors.
The Bank of Aquatine – The largest and most powerful financial institution in the whole of the Green Sea. Other cities have their own banks, but none have the influence that Aquatine has. Loans were given to many of the Grand Councilors, counting houses, and even several foreign cities. None know for certain save the bankers themselves just who owes how much, but there are rumors that Several Ithican Princes owe vast sums of money to the Bank. Those that default on their loans have found themselves surrounded by well financed enemies.
The Bilderburg Society – A secret Society based and operated out of the Lyceum of Seome. They are a collection of some of the more powerful members of the higher levels of Sofinian society. One the face they are known of and from time to time Members of the Grand Council have openly declared their membership. Rumors of influence peddling, bank manipulation, and hedonistic orgies are commonly spoken of, but darker rumors or necromancy, demon worship, and other less wholesome activities have proven themselves true in the past, and may be even more horrible than imagined.
The Frontiersmen – In the Brind wilderness are born some of the hardiest kin in all of Sofinia. They are less of a formal organization and more of a collection of barbarians, settlers, and woodsman. From the northern marches to the peeks of the Southern Caspa Mountians, these men and women live in tight knit families and small communities. Many of them think of themselves as a separate nation and may one day be willing to fight for independence. One thing that is undeniable is that due to the harsh conditions from weather, monsters, goblin tribes, and scarcity of resources has made these people some of the hardest, best fighters in the world. Often frontiersmen hire themselves out as mercenaries, bounty hunters, and killers.
